今天有读者问：「我帮我儿子（5 岁）填写 I-539A，preparer & interpreter 是不是写我的信息呀？ 还是默认未成年人是父母代写，这两部分留空呀？」
未满 14 岁的小孩，在申请延期或转换身份的时候，I-539/I-539A 表格由父母（或 legal guardian）代签名（不能留空），USCIS 的 I-539 填写指示里有说明：
If you are under 14 years of age, your parent or legal guardian may sign the application on your behalf. A legal guardian may also sign for a mentally incompetent person. If your application is not signed, or if the signature is not valid, we will reject your application.
有律师建议，在签名的旁边可以注明「parent signing on behalf of my child」 —— 由父母代签。
签名有三个部分：
- Applicant – 申请人：不能留空，父母代签。
- Interpreter – 翻译人：小朋友没有行为能力，父母不需要向孩子翻译，我的意见是不用填。
- Preparer – 填表人：父母代小朋友填表的话，建议填写 preparer 部分并签字。
