美国签证相片下方的星星有什么含义?

很多人注意到自己的美国签证相片下方有星星;据说大多数人是两颗。这代表什么?

网上有很多传言;唯一的官方说明,是国务院官网 2012 年签证问答 webchat 的记录

Q: [...] There is a star or * symbol below the bottom left of my photo, does that signify anything?

A: The star symbol is not of any significance.

就是说,这个星星没啥特别的意义。

在某个访问量很大的非洲论坛上,有位自称美国使馆官员的人回复了这个问题

Wow, you have a keen eye! [smiley] Those are computer-generated features that help make each visa as unique as the people who obtain them. [smiley]

常见的一个传言是说星星代表风险;星星越多风险越高,星星越少风险越低。既然没有任何官方的解释,当然无法100%证实或证伪这种说法,但我个人认为纯属扯淡。

There's a rumor going around that refuses to die that stars have something to do with "risk factor". Bullshit. Bull. Shit.

We don't give visas to high-risk individuals, and if we did we certainly wouldn't put anything obvious on a visa to let you know we're onto you.
