「捡漏」用英语怎么说?

今天有读者问,看到一个特别好的 deal,怎么用英语跟人说自己「捡漏」了?

表达「价格很好」,比较普通的说法是「it’s a good/great deal」、「it’s a good/great buy」。如果价格更合适,折扣很好,像捡了个便宜,可以说「it’s a real/great bargain」。Bargain 有「something on sale at a lower price than its true value」的含义,

  • This coat was half-price – a real bargain.
  • The airline regularly offers last-minute bookings at bargain prices.
  • The sales had started and the bargain hunters (= people looking for things at a low price) were out in force.
  • She has a sharp eye for a bargain.
  • Buyers who have waited for bargains at the end of the year will find slim pickings.
  • The fall in property prices means that there are a lot of bargains waiting to be snapped up.
  • Jonathan doesn’t miss a trick! If there’s a bargain to be had at the market, he’ll find it.
  • Houses in this area used to be a real bargain, but they’re not cheap any more.

Steal: a product that has a very low price, or a price that is much lower than the original cost. 如果卖家跟你说「this is already a steal」,意思就是「我们这已经是白菜价啦!」

例句:

  • I picked up a new iron in the sale – it was a steal.
  • At half the original price, that designer dress is a steal.
  • The shares may be a steal, but investors should remain wary.
  • Their financial commitment for the land will be around $600,000, which Peter considers a steal.
  • For that money, it’s a steal.
  • I’ll give you two for one, that’s a steal, pal.
